I wrote this out of the belief that God goes before me as I build this business. He already knows who is behind every door and who will be at the table. It is also the longest track on my running mix. When my legs want to quit, it reminds me why we push on: God is already at the other end.

Storm Stopper

5:00

This one comes from the darkest floor I have been on. A job ended in a way that blindsided me, and the anxiety attacks that followed left me curled up, unable to breathe. From that floor I kept saying, Lord, you are the Storm Stopper. Peace, be still. Over the days that followed, Lara and I wrote this one together as I processed it all. If you are in a storm, this one is yours too.

Read the lyrics
[Intro] Thunder in my chest, storm raging in my head Too many voices, grapplin’ for my breath So I’m laying down every fear I’ve fed [Verse 1] When the night won’t lift its weight off me, and morning feels too far, When my thoughts turn into darkness. And my heart cries, “I’m not okay”, You don’t shame my weakness, You just give me room. You set my feet atop the waves, And remind me of what You can do. [Pre] So I whisper what I know is true, even when I can’t feel it yet, Your mercy meets me, full of grace, in the middle of my breath. [Chorus] You are the Storm Stopper, Peace, be still. No storm can defy Your will, Your voice commands the waters, Tells the chaos where to end. I call on the Storm Stopper, My Master, Father, King, Jesus, You are my stronghold, And the stones inside my sling. No weapon shaped against me Will ever find its mark. ’Cause you are the Storm Stopper, My light within the dark. Peace, be still. [Verse 2] The pit I was thrown in only changed my path, You turned their harm to healing, gave me truth at last. The words of the liars brought a bondage not my own, You found me in the silence, heart wrapped in iron and stone. Your grace unlocked the door, Your Word became my breath, You lift me up and put new life inside my chest. [Pre 2] When I can’t see past the bars, You’re already at the door, You make a way where there was none and tell me I am yours. [Verse 3] The fire blazed around me, yet it only burned my bonds, You shut the lion’s jaws, their claws could do no harm, ’Cause my mighty God is with me, all around me, strong and calm. I’ve seen You turn a den of death into a gentle rest, So I lean into Your presence till You show me my next step. [Bridge] I prayed in lamentation, You answered with Your Word, You don’t just calm the sea, You calm the war in me, Let the battle cry of angels drown out all my fear, The storms are loud, Your mercy’s louder, and Your voice is always clear. [Final Chorus] You are the Storm Stopper, Peace, be still. Peace, be still. [Outro] Whisper in the wind… your power is at hand. You are the Storm Stopper… and on this rock I stand. Peace. Be. Still.

Reconstructing My Deconstruction

4:49

My oldest son went through deconstruction in college. My challenge to him was simple: after you deconstruct, what will you reconstruct? Lara and I wrote this song out of years of those conversations as he found what he believes. It is a song of respect for him, and a record of a road our family walked together.

Read the lyrics
I took a match to all my Sunday best Watched the certainties go up in smoke All my Pharisee foundations Turned out mostly made of quotes I never broke up with Jesus Just broke up with my disguise ’Cause I’d been worshiping my answers More than Him before my eyes I thought if I pulled one thread The whole faith would come undone But when the walls fell down around me You were sitting in the rubble saying, “Child, I’m not the house, I’m the home.” Now I’m reconstructing my deconstruction Less addiction to being right Traded solid ground of my assumptions For learning how to walk by sight of Your light I’m less impressed with my own instructions More in awe of what I can’t explain Less religious, more like Jesus I don’t see the same No longer a Pharisee, Teach me to see like You see I used to crown my conclusions Like they carried Your last name If I called my take “divine” enough Then You would back my claim But if You’re really infinite And I’m just dust that learned to speak Then every lens that I look through Must be cracked and must be weak So I’ll hold my doctrines looser And Your mercy closer still ’Cause You didn’t die to make me certain You died to make me real I’m reconstructing my deconstruction Letting go of God-in-my-image Trading expectations of a kingdom For a King who keeps on breaking my limits I’m not afraid of finding out I’m wrong now If wrong just means You’re bigger than I knew Less religious, more like Jesus Less “for You,” more “with You” No longer a Pharisee, Teach me to see like You see I used to think that faith Was having all the right receipts Chapter, verse, and footnote On everyone I’d meet But faith is not pretending That I’ve mapped out all of You Faith is walking on the water With no guarantee of proof It’s hoping who You are Is kinder than my fear It’s trusting You to correct me As I keep drawing near So if I’m wrong, I’ll be wrong Falling forward into grace ’Cause You didn’t ask for certainty You asked to see my face So I’m reconstructing my deconstruction Piece by broken, honest piece I don’t need a throne of answers If I’m sitting at Your feet I’ll let my expectations shatter If it means I find what’s true Less religious, more like Jesus Less like me and more like You I never ended the relationship You never walked away Now every question is an altar Where I relearn how to pray No longer a Pharisee, Teach me to see Teach me to see like You see I want to see Teach me to see like You see I want to see I want to see

Mighty Men

2:59

Part of my workout mix. Scripture gives David's mighty men only a few verses, but what they did with God beside them is awe inspiring. When I am straining against the wild animals of this life, these stories carry me through the last set.

Read the lyrics
Mighty Men (Verse 1) They stood when kingdoms fell apart. Steel in their hands. Fire in their hearts. One stood alone. Eight hundred fell. By the strength of God, he lived to tell. Another would not quit the field. Lentils beneath him. Would not yield. Three broke through to bring one drink. Faith runs deeper than we think. (Pre-Chorus) Stand your ground. Hold the line. Strength is borrowed from the Lord Divine. One more step. One more fight. He gives power. He gives might. (Chorus) One more rep! One more stand! Build these arms with willing hands! Fight like lions! Never quit! God makes ordinary warriors fit! Raise the weight! Lift it high! Run until your lungs ignite! The Mighty Men did not give in. Now let the battle here begin! ⸻ (Verse 2) Benaiah chased a lion down. Into the pit. No fear was found. Snow beneath his wounded feet. Faith refused to taste defeat. He took a spear from giant hands. Turned the battle. Made his stand. Not by pride. Not by fame. Every victory bore God’s name. ⸻ (Bridge) David ran toward the giant. Joshua marched through the silence. Gideon fought with just a few. Samson’s strength the Spirit knew. Caleb climbed at eighty-five. Still said, “Give me that mountain!” Now it’s your turn. Move. Push. Rise. ⸻ (Final Chorus) One more rep! One more mile! Pain won’t last, but strength survives! Stand like David! Strike like three! Train your body faithfully! Every drop of sweat today builds endurance for the way. The Mighty Men have shown the road. Stand. Lift. Fight. For the Lord! For the Lord! ⸻ Outro (Gang Chant) One more! One more! Stand! Fight! One more! One more! One more! One more! Stand! Fight! One more! One more! Finish strong! Finish right! God gives strength! God gives might! Fight the fight! Fight the fight! Fight the fight!

The Lion in the Pit

3:32

Benaiah chased a lion into a pit on a snowy day. Most of us would call that a bad morning. Part of the same workout series as Mighty Men, and right now the top track on my own playlist.

Read the lyrics
[Intro] [distorted electric guitar riff, staccato strings, heavy kick drum] (Ooh) [Verse 1] [rhythmic male vocals, palm-muted guitar] Snow on the ground Fire in my chest Yeah, lying in the pit [choir vocals enter] I take one more step Yeah, but now you saw the tracks in the snow Saw the pit where the danger goes Could've turned, could've walked away But face stepped down where fear would stay No crowd, no lights, no battle cry Just a hungry roar and the will to fight Cold air cutting, heartbeat loud But a man of God doesn't back down now Fear says run, faith says go I don't fight alone and my Father knows [Chorus] [full band enters, anthemic vocals, brass swells] There's a lion in the pit but I'm going down Fear is loud but he won't wear the crown Snow on the ground, fire in my chest By the strength of the Lord I take one more step There's a lion in the pit but I won't turn back I was not made to fold under attack When the darkness close and the roar gets loud Faith steps in and fear backs down (Yeah) [Verse 2] [drums drop to a hip-hop beat, sub-bass synth] It's weight, it's a lion, this hill is a beast This pain wants to put a light out of me This road keeps asking if I still believe But I got a promise stronger than what I see Every breath is a prayer in motion Every drop of sweat is devotion I don't need easy, I need true I need the strength that only comes from You Fear says run, faith says rise I see the pit but I lift my eyes [Chorus] [distorted guitar power chords, driving drums] There's a lion in the pit but I'm going down Fear is loud but he won't wear the crown Snow on the ground, fire in my chest By the strength of the Lord I take one more step There's a lion in the pit but I won't turn back I was not made to fold under attack When the darkness close and the roar gets loud Faith steps in and fear backs down [Bridge] [staccato strings, rhythmic chanting] Spirit in your head (Oh) Fire in your chest (Oh) God's strength in your arms (Oh) Holy Spirit's got your back [vocal intensity increases] I don't need to feel brave to obey Your voice I don't need to see the wind to make my choice Yeah, yeah, You are with me in the valley You are with me in the fight So I step into the shadow carrying Your light One step closer, one breath deeper One heart steady, my God is stronger [Chorus] [full orchestral and rock arrangement] There's a lion in the pit but I'm going down Fear is loud but he won't wear the crown Snow on the ground, fire in my chest By the strength of the Lord I take one more step There's a lion in the pit but I won't turn back I was not made to fold under attack When the darkness close and the roar gets loud Faith steps in and fear backs down [Outro] [strings and brass fade] Snow on the ground (Oh) Fire in my chest (Oh) Lying in the pit I take one more step

Paul's Push

4:58 Variation pair with Press On

A lot of music with this kind of bass line is not edifying to the soul. I wanted workout music I could actually live with. Paul writes in athletes' imagery, pressing on toward the goal, and this track turns that push into fuel.

Read the lyrics
Press On Verse 1 The road climbs higher. The air grows thin. My legs are shaking, but I won’t give in. The finish hides beyond the hill. I can’t see it… but Heaven will. The weight is real. The miles are long. His promise is what makes me strong. I don’t run for fading gold. I run toward the prize untold. Pre-Chorus When my strength begins to fade, His strength rises unchanged. Every heartbeat. Every stride. Grace is keeping me alive. Chorus Press on! Run your race! Keep your eyes on amazing grace! When you can’t see one more mile, faith keeps running all the while. Hard pressed! Not crushed! Knocked down! Rise up! Every step declares the truth: My God is faithful. He’ll see me through. Press on! Verse 2 Some days mountains block the way. Some days storms refuse to break. Some prayers wait. Some wounds remain. Still I run through joy and pain. Miracles begin where strength runs out. Faith keeps moving through every doubt. I don’t need to see the end. I know the One who’s waiting there. Pre-Chorus Breathing hard. Heart on fire. He keeps lifting my desire. One more hill. One more bend. Grace will carry to the end. Chorus Press on! Run your race! Keep your eyes on amazing grace! When your lungs are burning bright, hope keeps pulling through the night. Hard pressed! Not crushed! Perplexed! Still trust! Every mile is one more proof My God is faithful. He’ll see me through. Press on! Press on! Bridge Forget what’s behind. Reach ahead. Lift your eyes. Keep your tread. The pain is loud. The promise louder. Weakness falls. His power grows stronger. Run with purpose. Stand with courage. Finish well. Don’t surrender. The finish line isn’t just ahead. It’s already known by God. Final Chorus Press on! Don’t slow down! Lift your head! Hold your ground! Every obstacle bows one day. Every valley makes a way. Hard pressed! Not crushed! Struck down! Still up! Faith can see what eyes cannot. Hope keeps moving toward the Son. Press on! Run your race! Finish strong! Finish faithful! Until the crown meets every step… I’ll press on.

3:26 Variation pair with Paul’s Push

Same lyrics as Paul's Push, different sound. Suno generates variations and lets you pick a favorite. I liked both, so I kept both. Listen to the two back to back and you will hear one of my favorite parts of this craft: the same words can carry a completely different feel.

[Intro] I can’t see the finish. But I know the promise. So I run. [Intro] I can’t see the finish. But I know the promise. So I run. [Verse 1] The road is long and my chest burns deep Miles behind me, more ahead of me I’ve been pressed on every side But I’m still moving, still alive Knocked down, but I’m not destroyed Pain gets loud, but it has no voice The race is hard, but the call is clear I don’t run by sight out here [Pre-Chorus] When I can’t see the end I remember who began Every step I take Is held inside Your hand [Chorus] I press on, I press on When the road is long and the strength feels gone Hard pressed, not crushed, still held by grace I run in faith till I finish the race I press on, I press on Through the dark before the coming dawn Eyes on the prize, heart full of faith I run in grace till I finish the race [Verse 2] Some doors only open by miracle Some mountains only move when You say so But I don’t have to know how yet I just breathe, believe, and take the next step I’ve seen chains fall, I’ve seen seas divide I’ve seen hope rise on the other side So when the hill climbs higher than me I remember who gives strength to the weak [Pre-Chorus] When I can’t see the end I remember who began Every step I take Is held inside Your hand [Chorus] I press on, I press on When the road is long and the strength feels gone Hard pressed, not crushed, still held by grace I run in faith till I finish the race I press on, I press on Through the dark before the coming dawn Eyes on the prize, heart full of faith I run in grace till I finish the race [Bridge] Drop the beat low Let the vocal breathe I don’t run for empty glory I don’t run to prove my name I run because You called me I run because You came When weakness says surrender When fear says I am through I lift my eyes to heaven And take one step with You [Build] Not crushed Not lost Not done I press on Not crushed Not lost Not done I press on [Final Chorus] I press on, I press on When the road is long and the strength feels gone Hard pressed, not crushed, still held by grace I run in faith till I finish the race I press on, I press on Through the dark before the coming dawn Eyes on the prize, heart full of faith I run in grace till I finish the race [Outro] I can’t see the finish. Care Without Carrying

4:23

A love letter to my wife, Lara. She is my rock. I have watched her hold heavy situations for the people she loves with a level of emotional intelligence that inspires me, caring deeply without letting it crush her. I could not find a better way to tell her how I see her, so I wrote her this.

Read the lyrics
You’re my calm in the center of a crowded room The steady hand that pulls me through my afternoon And your perfectly timed grace Comes down like rain when the world’s on fire For years, you carried every burden like a weight upon your heart Till you learned God carries what you cannot and always does His part You’ve learned to care without carrying Every story as your own You open up your heart and hands Then you trust God to bring them home You stop for every tree that has stood a hundred years You hear them preach their Maker’s sermons about time and borrowed tears “We are only here a moment, but His fingerprints remain In the bark and in the branches, in the joy and in the pain.” You say that character grows in those quiet, hidden rings In the habits no one notices, in a thousand faithful things So when the ground begins to tremble and the night feels far too long You’re like those ancient giants, redeeming every storm into song You’ve learned to care without carrying Every story as your own You open up your heart and hands Then you trust God to bring them home You love and give unendingly To family, strangers, lost, and known You lay your plans down in a moment When a weary heart needs a home You’ve got golden brown eyes, like autumn on the trees Every time I’m worrying, I know you're praying over me You never let the sun go down till every heart finds peace You’re fully in the moment, fully present for each need Lara, when I say “my love,” when I whisper “princess” in the night You laugh and tell me “Darling” is the name that fits just right When the little ones come running, calling “La-La” as they fly You become their safe harbor, wrap them in your light You share your favorite scripture in the way you choose to love “We can’t see where someone’s headed, so we leave the rest to God above.” You’ve learned to care without carrying Every story as your own You open up your heart and hands Then you trust God to bring them home You love and give unendingly And somehow there is always more Like a brook that learns its song from stones You lay a path that leads us home My Darling, in your quiet way you’ve taught me how to stand To see with Jesus’ patient eyes And feel God’s heartbeat in your hand

Warrior Girl

4:57

For our daughter, one of my best friends. Life asked her to be a warrior early, through food allergies that followed her for years, and now as a mom to a young son with type 1 diabetes. She keeps fighting for her family. Lara and I wrote her this anthem.

Read the lyrics
Mmm… You are faithful You were the first light in our little home, Tiny heart that wanted everyone close. When your food turned into a battlefield, It was your first taste of a narrower road. You prayed for a man who would love like Christ, Sermon spotlight and a hopeful ring. When the shadows tried to take his life, You held on tight, and you chose to sing. Every time the ground shakes under your feet, Heaven watches a warrior rise again. You face giants, you climb mountains, Hand in hand with the God who saves. When the world gets heavy, you stay grounded, Standing firm in amazing grace. Daughter, wife, sister, mother, Worship leader to a broken world, God sings louder over you, His warrior girl. When your best friend’s story ended too soon, You learned to worship with an aching heart. When the mold stole breath from your dream-home walls, You packed it all and made a new start. We watched the kids come to life again, Laughter filling up our crowded rooms. Three generations sharing life together, Love kept rising, breaking through the gloom. Every loss and every tear that fell Became a place where God Himself would dwell. You face giants, you climb mountains, Hand in hand with the God who saves. When the world gets heavy, you stay grounded, Standing firm in amazing grace. Daughter, wife, and loving mother, Worship leader to a broken world, God sings louder over you, His warrior girl. Then your little boy grew tired and pale, Numbers glowing on a midday screen. Type one words in an emergency room, Another valley you had never seen. Sirens in our chests as you rushed to care, Hospital lights and that familiar ache, Yet once again, you stood your ground and said, “I will not allow my boy to break.” Now you count the carbs like you count His grace, Packing courage in his backpack too. Through the needles and the sleepless checks, Jesus holds your boy just as He holds you. This is another mountain, not your first, not last, But you’ve never met a valley you and God can’t pass. When the giants come in heavy, trying to knock your faith around, You plant your feet in the name of Jesus, And they fall when your knees hit the ground. In the pantry, in the night watch, In the songs you raise, God is fighting for your family In a thousand quiet ways. You face giants, you climb mountains, And you never walk a step alone. Every scar and every midnight whisper Is a verse in the song He calls your own. Daughter, wife, and mother, Health defender in a hurting world, We are honored just to know you, Our miracle, our warrior girl. So when the next wave rises high again, And the path looks steep and hard to climb, Be assured we’re praying over you, Our God is always right on time. Mmm… warrior girl… God sings over you, His warrior girl…

We Are Warrior Girls

4:17 Rewritten from Warrior Girl

Warrior Girl felt bigger than one story. So we rewrote it as an anthem for every woman standing in the gap for her family and her health. Personal first, universal second. That order matters in songwriting, and everywhere else.

Read the lyrics
Mmm… You are faithful, You are strong in me Some days I wake up already in a fight, Heart racing like the morning’s running late. Fear knocking on the door of my mind, Whispering that maybe it’s too much today. But I grab my shoes and put my armor on, Turn my worries into quiet prayer. I take one more breath, take one more step, Knowing, Jesus, You are already there. When the ground feels like it’s shaking under me, I lift my eyes and drop down to my knees. I’m a warrior girl, I keep moving, Hand in hand with the God who saves. I don’t know how, but I know Who, So I put this battle in Your hands. I’m a warrior girl, still walking, I walk in the strength of an awesome God, One more prayer, one more stride, I will rise up, my God is by my side! I will rise up, my God is by my side! There are nights I’m wide awake and worn, Tears soaking through another pillowcase. Thoughts circling like a thousand storms, Telling me I’m running out of faith. But in the car and at work I pray, In the checkout line when my time is thin, I keep talking to the One who hears, Every word, ‘cause I still trust in Him. When my fears start roaring louder than my peace, I will stand and shout Your name into the storm. Every burden that I thought would break me, Every valley that felt like it wouldn't end, There in the dust You came and met me, Gave me Your breath so I could rise again. So when a giant’s standing on my doorstep Says I’m finished and I won’t survive, As a daughter of the King I rise up, Stare that foolish giant right in the eyes. Get up, girl, breathe in grace, He is with you in this place. One more prayer, one more stride, Jesus is right there by your side. When you fall, get right back up, His hand is steady, His arm is strong. Every battle, every climb, Our faithful God, You’re right on time. We’re the warrior girls, still rising, Hand in hand with the God who saves. We don’t know how, but we know Who, So we put this battle in His hands. We’re warrior girls, still rising, We walk in the strength of an awesome God, One more prayer, one more stride, We will rise up, our God is on our side! You’re behind us, You go before us, We never have to fight alone. We’re Your warrior girls, still rising, Every one a daughter of the King. We will stand on the Rock that never moves, A mighty force in Jesus’ Name. Oh, oh, oh, Lord Jesus! There’s no other name above Your name.

Ministry of the Water

5:51

For my dad. He taught me to put one foot in front of the other on the track, and how to use my mind after I brought home four Fs in grade school. In retirement, his boat became his church: meeting men where they are, teaching them to fish, investing in them. Seizures slowed him down in 2026. Lara and I wrote this song to tell him the ministry of the water carries on.

Read the lyrics
[Verse 1] You were a smile in the doorway Passing through my younger years Then four letters on a paper Brought you closer through the tears You sat beside me at the table Showed me how to slow my mind How to read the lines with patience How to leave the doubt behind [Pre-Chorus] You never raised your voice You raised the bar You showed me I could rise to it And stand on what I’d learned [Verse 2] From chalk dust to starting blocks You called cadence, I learned pace Every lap you ran beside me Counted more than wins or place You laugh easy and live outdoors You love the stillness between the casts You clean the fish, you dress the deer Never counting what it cost [Bridge 1] You handed me a keyboard Asked if a future could be there That small door you opened early Bent the arc of my career Later when the floor fell out Jobs gone, pride undone We built tables from the fragments Shaping a future side-by-side [Verse 3] You walked with Christ, yet kept your distance Where religion asked too much But the faith I learned to carry Drew your heart back where faith felt safe Now your hands lift songs on Sundays "Jesus loves you", on your lips And the hours freely given Happen where the shoreline dips [Hymn Refrain] This is the ministry of the water No stage and no display Just time enough for truth to surface And hearts are free to play This is the ministry of the water Where listening is the art Guests board with heavy souls And return with lighter hearts [Verse 4] There are men from distant highways Different names and different scars But your boat has always carried More than tackle, lines, and rods Every laugh and every silence Every prayer without shame Built a refuge out of presence Left no man the way he came [Bridge 2] Now the ground feels much less certain Like the waves beneath Peter’s feet But fear does not get the final say When feet and water meet The water never owned you You were never just a boat You were called to men and moments And that calling keeps its course [Final Refrain] This is the ministry of the water Still faithful, still at work Even when the path feels unfamiliar Grace does not reverse This is the ministry of the water And I stand as living proof I am one of many stories Formed by patience, time, and truth [Outro] If the boat stays near the shoreline And the camps grow still some days What you poured into the lives of men Keeps moving other ways [Tag] I still hear you say it, Plain and simple, loud and true Jesus loves you [Pre-Chorus] You

My sister, Angela Rosenkrans, runs a dance company and teaches dance at Scottsdale Community College. She asked for a song she could choreograph. She gave me the vision, I wrote drafts, and we traded versions until it landed. She built a dance on it that still runs at festivals. Our first collaboration, and one of the most honoring projects I have been part of.

[Opening: Emergence | Sparse, intimate] I wake already moving Before I know where I stand the ground is speaking in a language I forgot my body remembers when my mind does not Nothing is still even the quiet is leaning [Build 1: Uncertainty | Rhythm begins] I’ve been dancing lines not straight not safe not sure Tracing shapes in the dark that only make sense after I pass through them Every step a small confession Every fall not an ending just a door sliding open [Pulse: Crossroads | Tension] No sign in the sky No arrow on the road Just this pull that keeps returning when I try to stay still The crossroads don’t speak They whisper And somehow that’s the answer [Expansion: Motion Takes Over | Percussive, driving] I move and the dust moves with me I move and what was heavy loosens I move and the ground doesn’t ask for explanation I’m not finished I’m not stuck I’m becoming because I’m moving Dancing through dust learning trust [Release: Identity | Air opens] If I’m broken I’m not devalued If I’m lost I’m still known Nothing here is wasted Not the detours Not the waiting Not the aching in my knee Every step is carrying more than my weary eyes can see [Descent: Weight | Strip it back] I've carried names I've carried shadows Some I chose Some I survived I tried to stand at the right height before I knew how to rise I thought elevation was escape I didn’t know it was endurance [Stillness: Breath | Almost silence] No permission No proof Just breathe finding breath [Rebuild: Strength | Slow power] There’s a strength I didn’t earn A grace that meets me mid-step It doesn’t wait for me to arrive It finds me in motion [Declaration: Belonging | Clear, grounded] I don’t have to be perfect to be chosen I don’t have to be strong to be held I don’t have to explain where I’ve been to be myself I bend I don’t break I shift I stay true Something lifts inside my chest A voice not loud but steady I see you [Ascent: Becoming | Full, expansive] I’m not moving toward a finish I’m moving into myself What was closed is breathing again What was broken is learning shape Every step is being redeemed Not right or wrong Just movement wrapped in song [Arrival Without Ending | Resolve] I don’t move to prove I move to live And in the moving I am found Held but not tied down Floating over and within it Still becoming Still becoming me

When Others Run

3:44

I am an Army veteran. Our youngest son is a military police officer and a firefighter, and our family and friends are full of people who serve. This started as a song we wrote for him and grew into a thank-you for every first responder and service member who runs in when others run away.

[INTRO – spoken, quiet over pads] Yeah… This one’s for everyone who runs in when others run away. Every firefighter, every officer, everyone who serves. Turn the bass up nice and slow. [VERSE 1 – low, almost spoken rap, minimal melody] Early alarms, you’re up before dawn, Boots on the floor and the uniform on. Drills in the rain till your muscles burn, Every hard lesson is a line you learn. Chopping through doors with a single stroke, Barrels spitting fire, blazing through the smoke. Training grounds, instructors barking commands, Learning to breathe when the others can’t. [PRE-CHORUS – more melodic, building energy] You walk through smoke when the night burns red, Sirens sing while you clear your head. They’ll never know the cost you pay, But we see you every single day. [CHORUS – big melody, “When Others Run” hook, stacked harmonies & octaves] When others run out, you’re running in, Calm in the chaos when the world spins, Fire in the street and fire overhead, You hold that line while the rest have fled. Punching through clouds in the middle of the night Tank on your back, you drop into the fight. From the drills to the fight to the love you show, You’re our shield, our strength, and we want you to know. [POST-CHORUS – chopped “oh-oh, oh-oh” and “When others run…” over drop] When others run… when others run… Our shield, our strength, and we want you to know. [VERSE 2 – higher energy rap, still mid-range] Code calls out and the radios crack, You move as a unit, no one looks back. Real fire, real rounds, real streets at night, Everything you practiced now comes to life. Clearing a room or cutting through doors, Pulling someone off a collapsing floor. Traffic stops, patrols, long dusty roads, You carry all that in your silent load. Twelve-hour shifts, then you train some more, PT tests on a tired core. Mind on the mission when your body’s weak, Discipline louder than the fear that speaks. [PRE-CHORUS 2 – melodic, slightly softer start, then build] Most of the lives that you pull from night, Will never know you kept their world upright. But we see every bruise, every quiet drive, The weight you carry just to keep us alive. [CHORUS – repeat, bigger, add backing harmonies] When others run out, you’re running in, Calm in the chaos when the world spins, Fire in the street and fire overhead, You hold that line while the rest have fled. Punching through clouds in the middle of the night Tank on your back, you drop into the fight. From the drills to the fight to the love you show, You’re our shield, our strength, and we want you to know. [FINAL CHORUS – add octave-up lead + strong harmonies] When others run… you’re the ones who run in… Our shield, our strength, and we want you to know. [OUTRO – spoken, soft over fading synths] Whether it’s fire on our streets or a war overseas, You’re the ones who go in and keep the rest of us free. To every defender that stands ready under the sun… You’re the ones we believe in, when others run. Thank you for your service, every daughter, every son You are our heroes who stand when others run.

Mosquito Run Opener

2:47 Instrumental

I was sitting in a waiting room during my dad's MRI and got bored. By the time we left, I had the start of an iPhone game built with Claude, where you fish and squish mosquitoes. When the game went 3D, the 8-bit placeholder music had to go, so I made this opener as its soundtrack.

Warm Welcome

I needed walk-in music for some YouTube teaching videos. Instead of licensing a stock track, I made my own. That is the quiet superpower of these tools: when you need an asset, you can just make it.

Whose story would you turn into a song?

A spouse, a parent, a graduate, a team. Two hours from idea to track, and you keep the skill.
